A (Virtual) Walk Through Brooklyn Bridge Park

Michael Van Valkenburgh, a landscape designer and one of the forces behind the creation of Brooklyn Bridge Park, was the featured guest at the 100th annual meeting of the Brooklyn Heights Association. His presentation detailed Brooklyn Bridge Park as it is now, and as it shall be someday, and the BHA captured his offerings on video. He covered the design context of the park; the guiding design principles; Pier 1, set to open this year; Pier 2, under construction now; and a preview of Pier 6. One thing that’s clear from the vision he conferred: BBP is not an amenity for Dumbo or Brooklyn Heights. It’s an asset for the entire borough–or the entire city–to share.
