The construction of the temporary pool near Pier 2 at Brooklyn Bridge Park is proceeding nicely. The picture above was taken from the Brooklyn Heights Promenade today. The pool is a needed park amenity according to Senator Daniel Squadron (D-Brooklyn), via the New York Post, “I’ve long said the pool is a major priority for the park, and now the community can dive right in.”
The total cost of the project is estimated to be more than $150,000 and is said to have more of beach feel with sand and a deck built around it to complete the entire experience. The pool construction has been proceeding on schedule and will prove beneficial to Brooklynites because it’s something the community has wanted. The park planners are trying to meet the near term needs of the community while still focusing on getting the entire park completed over the next few years, assuming the balance of funds become available.
